Women's Basketball: Cadets roll past NVU-Johnson, 68-41

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The Norwich University women's basketball team wrapped up their first semester of play on Tuesday evening, taking down the visiting Badgers of Northern Vermont University-Johnson by a 68-41 final score.

Norwich's largest deficit of the day was a mere one point midway through the first quarter, as they quickly regained the lead and never let it go. The Cadets closed the game on a 21-7 run to remove any doubt and coasted away with the 27-point victory over their in-state rival.

Ten different Cadets registered points in the final box score, but senior Emily Oliver (Sagamore Hills, Ohio) led everybody with 16 points on 6-9 shooting along with four rebounds and a pair of assists and steals. Current Great Northeast Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week Mary Casamassa (Wexford, Pa.) netted 13 points of her own, as the Cadets shot an even 50.0% from the field as a team.

Norwich will finish their first semester of play with a 4-6 overall record, winning two of their last three contests. They'll return to the court in 2019 on January 5th at Newbury College.
