Women's Basketball: Cadets fall at Bates, 65-50

LEWISTON, Maine - The Norwich University women's basketball team traveled to Bates University on Tuesday evening for a non-conference game against the Bobcats, with the hosts pulling out the 65-50 victory. 

Bates utilized an 11-0 run that ended in the second quarter to build a commanding 40-25 lead heading into the break. The Cadets struggled to get anything going offensively, shooting just 27.9% (17-61) from the field compared to a 38.5% (25-65) mark by the Bobcats, who coasted to the 65-50 victory. Norwich struggled particularly from three, posting a 3-14 night from deep. One place Norwich found success was the free throw line, shooting 86.7% (13-15) from the charity stripe as a team. 

Emily Oliver (Sagamore Hills, Ohio) had a team-high 16 points on 6-12 shooting, and Mary Casamassa (Wexford, Pa.) posted a 13 point, 12 rebound double-double along with four assists and a steal. 

With the loss, Norwich falls to 6-9 overall on the season. They'll return home for their next date, hosting the Rams of Suffolk University on Thursday night for a 7:00 PM conference showdown.
