PAXTON, Mass. - The Norwich University women's basketball team fell on the road on Thursday evening, as the AMCATS of Anna Maria College rallied in the second half to defeat the Cadets by a 58-49 final score in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play.
After an even 7-7 score brought the teams into the second quarter, Emily Oliver (Sagamore Hills, Ohio) proceded to have a big 12 point quarter to lead Norwich to a slim 24-20 advantage at the half. The AMCATS responded in force, however, as they outscored Norwich 38-25 in the second half to come from behind and snag the 58-49 victory.
Kailynne Frederick (Adams, Mass.) earned her first collegiate start and responded with her first career double-double, putting up 12 points on 5-9 shooting to go with 10 rebounds. Emily Oliver led all scorers with 19 points, playing all forty minutes end-to-end.
The loss is Norwich's second in a row and their fifth loss in their last six games, dropping their overall record to 7-12 and their conference record to 2-5. They'll try to get back in the win column on Saturday when they travel to Albertus Magnus for a 1:00 PM conference battle.
