Women’s Hockey: Conway earns NEHC Co-Player of the Week honors

NEHC WEEK 1 REPORT

MARSHFIELD, Mass. – Junior forward Amanda Conway (Methuen, Mass.) earned her fourth career New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) Player of the Week honor on Monday afternoon. 

The reigning NCAA Division III women's ice hockey scoring and point champion opened up her 2018-19 season with two goals in Norwich's 4-2 loss to Elmira College on Saturday afternoon. 

Conway scored the 55th and 56th goals of her standout career in just her 55th game played. 

Both of Conway's goals came in the first period to help Norwich tie the game back up after falling behind by a goal each time. 

Conway now has 56 goals and 33 assists for 89 points in her career. She earned NEHC Player of the Year honors last year being named the Player of the Week three times during the season. 

Norwich (0-1-0, 0-0-0 NEHC) dropped two spots in the USCHO.com and d3hockey.com National Rankings this week to No. 3 after the loss to Elmira in a rematch of the 2018 NCAA Division III Women's Ice Hockey National Championship game. 

The Cadets will open up league play this weekend when they travel to New England College on Friday for a 4 p.m. faceoff and then a 2 p.m. tilt at Plymouth State. 

Norwich will then face rival Plattsburgh State at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 7 in Plattsburgh. The Cadets will finally play their home opener on Friday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. when they host the Univ. of Southern Maine on National Championship Banner Raising night.
