Women’s Hockey: Madden earns NEHC Player of the Week honors

Kelley Madden NEHC Player of the Week

NEHC WEEK 9 REPORT

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Junior forward Kelley Madden (Novelty, Ohio) of the Norwich University women's ice hockey team earned her first career New England Hockey Conference (NEHC) Player of the Week award after a breakout offensive performance in two wins for the Cadets.

Madden scored her first two goals of the season, including the game-winning goal with 54 seconds left in overtime to lift Norwich to a 5-4 upset win over No. 1 Adrian College on Monday in the East-West Hockey Classic third place game.

She kept the momentum up on Saturday, registering a goal and an assist for two more points in a 10-2 win over Plymouth State.

Madden was Norwich's lone representative on the East-West Hockey Classic All-Tournament team for her heroics vs. Adrian.

Madden has three goals and two assists for five points this season, with 80 percent of her offense coming in the last two games.

Norwich has now had six of the nine NEHC Player of the Week award winners this season. The Cadets have rolled through conference play with a perfect 10-0-0 record to extend their league winning streak to 28 games.

NU is ranked fourth in both the d3hockey.com and USCHO national rankings released on Monday as well.

The Cadets are in action on Monday at 6:15 as they travel to Endicott College in Beverly, Mass. for a non-conference matchup with the Gulls.
