NORTHFIELD, Vt. – The Norwich University women's ice hockey team downed Trinity (Conn.) 4-2 to claim its 14th win of the season and a successful Senior Day on Saturday afternoon at Kreitzberg Arena.

Senior Adrieana Rossini (Malden, Mass.) and junior Sophie McGovern (Hermantown, Minn.) each had a goal and an assist to lead the Norwich offense in the victory.

Junior Amanda Conway (Methuen, Mass) and senior Liesel Baker (Saline, Mich.) each scored goals as well for the Cadets.

Sophomore Emily Lambert (Riverview, Mich.) made 20 saves to improve to 8-2-1 on the season.

After falling behind 1-0 just 3:05 into the game, Norwich scored three unanswered goals to take a 3-1 lead. Trinity (7-7-1) scored again before the opening period was done though to complete the wild five-goal first 20 minutes.

Ellie Fellows gave the Bantams a 1-0 lead with a one-timer goal from the top of the crease off a pass from Angelica Mushenko at the side of the goal. Fellows crashed the net and lifted the puck over Lambert's blocker. Julia Lee also had an assist on the goal for Trinity.

Norwich equalized at the 7:58 mark of the first period with Baker scoring her first goal of the season and second of her career, capitalizing on a rebound chance after KC Herne's (Akwesasne, N.Y.) shot was saved. Samantha Benoit (Bow, N.H.) had the secondary assist on the goal.

Conway gave Norwich its first lead of the game with her team-leading 21st goal of the season on the power play off assists from McGovern and Kirsten Watts (Chugiak, Alaska. McGovern took a pass from Watts and skated down the left wing with speed to get around a Trinity defender, she cut hard towards the net as she crossed below the faceoff circle and shoveled a pass over to Conway who slammed it home on the far side for the goal.

Rossini increased the lead to 3-1 at the 14:02 mark of the first period with her seventh goal of the season off assists from Jessica Piracini (Arlington, Mass.) and Alyssa Hulst (Scarborough, Maine).

Trinity capped the first period scoring with Mushenko scoring on a 2-on-0 odd-player rush off an assist from Caelin Flaherty. Flaherty intercepted a d to d pass and was off to the races with Mushenko before the NU defense could recover to set up the rush. Flaherty skated in on the right and then fed a pass over to Mushenko who buried it into the net despite Lambert's best efforts to slide over.

McGovern capped the scoring for the day with her ninth goal of the season at the 8:21 mark of the second period off assists from Rossini and Robyn Foley (Goulds, Newfoundland and Labrador).

Norwich closes its 2018-19 home schedule on Tuesday, January 22 when it hosts Amherst College at 6 p.m. in Kreitzberg Arena.
