HARTFORD, Conn. - Senior forward Amanda Conway (Methuen, Mass.) scored twice to lead the Norwich University women's ice hockey team to a 4-1 non-conference victory over Trinity on Saturday night at the Koeppel Community Sports Center.
Senior Brynn Wopperer (Amherst, N.Y.) had a goal and an assist, while classmate Emily Lambert (Riverview, Mich.) made her season debut, stopping 30 shots to pick up the victory in goal and lead the Cadets (4-1-0, 2-0-0 NEHC) to their fourth straight victory.
Conway scored just 46 seconds into the game with her third goal of the season off an assist from Carley Sedlar (Howell, Mich.) to give the Cadets an early 1-0 advantage.
Norwich pushed the lead to 2-0 at the 9:53 mark of the second period with a shorthanded tally by Wopperer, firing a wrist shot past the Trinity goalie off an assist from Kelley Madden (Novelty, Ohio).
Conway scored a power play goal just a minute into the third period to briefly stretch the Norwich lead to 3-0 off assists from Mikah Baptiste (Ottawa, Ontario) and Sophie McGovern (Hermantown, Minn.).
Trinity finally got on the board and solved Lambert with a power play goal of their own at the 3:33 mark of the third period with Camille von Steinbergs scoring off assists from Katie Marsden and Sierra Lee.
Norwich capped the scoring at the 19:37 mark with an empty-net goal by Blossom Truel (Stratford, Wis.) for her fourth tally of the season off an assist from Wopperer.
Norwich returns home to host Conn. College on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at 7 p.m. in Kreitzberg Arena in non-conference action.
