Women’s Lacrosse: Lasell races past Norwich, 21-7

Olivia Bloom women's lacrosse action vs. Lyndon State

NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Junior attack Vanessa Pino scored eight goals and tallied two assists to lead the Lasell College women's lacrosse team to a 21-7 victory over Norwich University on Thursday afternoon in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) action.

Pino scored five first-half goals to help Lasell (10-3, 6-2 GNAC) build up a 14-3 halftime lead en route to the victory.

Norwich (6-6, 4-4 GNAC) was led by sophomore attack Olivia Bloom (Annapolis, Md.), who matched her season-high of five goals for the third time this season.

Freshmen Kathryn Pruel (Scottsdale, Ariz.) and Emily Schromm (North Attleboro, Mass.) each tallied a goal as well to round out the Cadets' goal scorers on the day.

Lasell scored five of the game's first six goals with Pino having a hand in four of them to race out to an early lead that it would never look back from.

Pruel and Schromm each tallied their goals with Schromm's coming with 19:12 left in the first half to cut the deficit to 5-2. However, Lasell scored four straight before NU tallied again with Bloom notching her first of the day with 11:33 left in the first half.

Lasell ended the half with five more unanswered goals.

Norwich opened the second-half scoring with Bloom scoring on a free-position shot to cut the deficit to 14-4.

Kellie Matthews and Taylor Yandow each had a hat trick for Lasell to cap the Lasers' scoring leaders on the day.

Junior Janice Bolton (Stow, Mass.) made nine saves, including seven in the first half to try and keep the powerful Lasell offense at bay.

Norwich will look to get back on track when it hosts Albertus Magnus at 1 p.m. on Saturday. Prior to the game, NU will honor its two seniors in Meaghan McGrath (Barre, Vt.) and Andrew Harris (Lakewood, Colo.).
