NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The Norwich University women's lacrosse team ran away with a 15-4 victory over the Albertus Magnus Falcons on Saturday afternoon, notching their fifth Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) victory of the year.
Freshman Emily Schromm (North Attleboro, Mass.) got the Cadets going early, notching a hat trick within the first four minutes of game time. The Falcons answered back with a goal to stop the Norwich assault, but Meaghan McGrath (Barre, Vt.) collected her own hat trick within a seven-minute span midway through the first to make it 6-1 Norwich. The Cadets continued to control the flow of the game and entered halftime up by a 12-2 score.
The action slowed down in the second half, as both teams struggled to get anything going offensively. Norwich managed to outscore the Falcons 3-2 in the half and sealed up the 15-4 victory.
Emily Schromm continued her strong offensive week with four goals and two assists, while Meaghan McGrath picked up four goals of her own as well as an assist. Janice Bolton (Stow, Mass.) and Lawson Hayes (Moorestown, N.J.) split the game in goal, combining for nine saves on 13 shots on goal.
Next up for the Cadets is their final regular season game of the year, an April 25 matchup with the Wildcats of Johnson & Wales. That game is set to begin at 6:00 PM on Wednesday night.
