NEW LONDON, N.H. - The Norwich University women's lacrosse team fell on the road on Wednesday afternoon to the Chargers of Colby-Sawyer College by a 17-10 final score in conference action.
Colby-Sawyer came out on fire in the first half, shocking the Cadets with two Sierra Schuster goals within the first five minutes of play before going on to outscore Norwich by a 7-2 margin the rest of the way to a large halftime lead. The two teams traded goals to begin the first half, before trading the Chargers put together a three-goal run to seal up the victory and coast to the 17-10 final.
Missy Preul (Scottsdale, Ariz.), Emily Schromm (North Attleboro, Mass.), Kate Winstanley (Lansdale, Pa.), and Mary-Kait Mace (Canton, N.Y.) all picked up a pair of goals each. Mace added in two assists and four draw controls, while freshman Brynn Mendes (Centerville, Mass.) had a game-high five draw controls to go with an assist and a goal. Sara Marcotte (Enfield, Conn.) had a game-high four caused turnovers for the second straight game to go with three ground balls.
Norwich falls to 3-2 overall and 2-2 within the conference on the season. They'll return to action on Saturday afternoon when they host the Wildcats of Johnson & Wales at 12:00 PM.
