ITHACA, N.Y. - The Norwich University wrestling started off their season at the 35th Annual Ithaca Invitational this weekend, placing seventh out of the 12 teams competing.
The Norwich team put on an impressive showing in their opening bout, especially a few newcomers to the program who got their collegiate careers off to a great start. Freshmen Daniel Curran and Blaise Bressler finished second and fifth in their weight classes respectively, while upperclassmen Steve Briganti and Michael Wagner both were in the championship bracket heading into the final day.

Ithaca took the overall team title with 167.0 points, while in-state rival Castleton finished in second place with 139.5 points. Norwich's 51.0 team points were good enough for the seventh-place finish.
The Cadets will be back in action next weekend at the Roger Williams Invitational in Rhode Island, a match set to start at 10:00 AM.
