Wrestling: Norwich hosts 25th All-Academy Championships, Navy repeats as champions

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - For the first time in the All-Academy Championships' 25 year history, Norwich University hosted the nation's eight service academies for a day of competition in Plumley Armory. 

Navy dominated the day, winning five of the individual championships and taking the tournament with 115.5 team points. The complete team results were as follows;

  1. Navy - 115.5 points
  2. Air Force - 99.5 points
  3. Army - 72.5 points
  4. The Citadel - 56.5
  5. VMI - 35.0
  6. Coast Guard - 14.5 points
  7. Merchant Marine - 2.5 points
  8. Norwich - 1.0 points

The top three finishers for each weight class were as follows;

The Most Outstanding Wrestler award was given to Neal Richards of VMI for his performance on his way to the 174-pound title, while Randy Meneweather of Air Force was recognized for having the most falls of the tournament. Cameron Smith (Duxbury, Mass.) and Daniel Curran (Peterborough, N.H.) each picked up victories in the consolation bracket, accounting for Norwich's point total for the day.
