BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Norwich University women's rugby team posted a 3-2 record to finish in fifth place out of eight teams at the Bowdoin College 7s Tournament on Saturday.
Norwich defeated Boston University twice and also upended Northeastern on the day, while falling to Dartmouth and AIC.
Norwich opened the day with a 34-0 victory over Boston University and then a 24-7 loss to Dartmouth in pool play seeding. The Cadets then fell in the first round of the knockout round with a 22-12 loss to American International College. NU rebounded to win its next two matches with a 50-7 win over Northeastern and a 26-5 win over Boston University.
Reagan Aldersea (Schertz, Texas) scored three tries to lead Norwich to the win over Boston University. Vic Olchowoj (Raleigh, N.C.), Denisse Zambon (Bronx, N.Y.) and Alissa Bissonnette (Newport, Vt.) also added tries in the win. Sheila Decker (Saranac Lake, N.Y.) added two conversions.
Decker scored Norwich's try and had the conversion in the Dartmouth loss.
Aldersea continued her breakout day with a try vs. AIC, while Caitlin Heale (Christchurch, New Zealand) also chipped in with one. Decker added a conversion to round out the scoring vs. the Yellowjackets.
Bissonnette scored twice, while Zambon, Olchowoj, AnnaLeigh Runion (Greenville, S.C.), Heale, Decker and Tavake each scored vs. Northeastern. Decker had five conversions.
Norwich finished the day with a 26-5 win over Boston University. Zambon led with two tries while Aldersea and Tavake added one each. Decker has two conversions and Zambon had one.
Norwich closes the the 2018 spring 7s season by hosting the Chris Munn 7s Tournament on Sunday, April 29 at Sabine Field.
