PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Norwich University women's rugby team picked up its second straight win with a 29-24 victory over Brown University on Sunday morning in National Intercollegiate Rugby Association (NIRA) action.
Norwich (5-2, 3-2 NIRA T1) got tries from Ashley Nau (Sunrise, Fla.), Fuatino Simi (Leone, American Somoa), Brooke Stafford (Gibbsboro, N.J.), Amber Kelly (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and Emma Parizo (Grand Isle, Vt.) en route to its second straight win over Brown.
Sheila Decker (Saranac Lake, N.Y.) went 2-for-5 on conversions to account for the rest of the scoring.
Norwich jumped out to a 17-0 halftime lead and then held on for the win in the second half despite Brown tallying four tries in a ferocious comeback attempt.
Norwich will close out the NIRA regular season next Saturday when it travels to Notre Dame College (Ohio) for an 11 a.m. matchup with the Falcons. Notre Dame is coming off a 42-12 win over AIC this past weekend and is 3-4 overall on the year.
The NIRA playoffs will begin the following week.
