FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Norwich University women's rugby team finished fourth out of eight teams at the Sacred Heart 7s Tournament on Saturday.
Norwich (1-5-1) went 1-1-1 in pool play and then lost in the 3 vs. 4 matchup to finish in fourth place in the tournament.
Norwich opened pool play with a 19-5 loss to the hosts Sacred Heart. The Cadets then responded with a 24-7 victory over LIU-Post, before finishing pool play with a 10-10 tie vs. Colby-Sawyer.
The Cadets were matched up with Mount St. Mary in the third-place match and fell 29-7.
Angelica Greene and Amber Kelly led the Norwich offense on the day with two tries each.
Greene scored the lone try in the Sacred Heart loss. Brooke Stafford, Emma Parizo, Kelly and Ida Mweze each scored tries in the victory over LIU-Post. Amanda Lodi was successful on one conversion and Norwich was awarded a two-point conversion for a penalty try.
Reagan Aldersea and Kelly each scored tries in the Colby-Sawyer match. Greene capped the try scoring on the day in the playoff match with Lodi hitting a conversion to round out the scoring.
Norwich will travel to the Bowdoin 7s Tournament next Saturday.
