Women's Rugby: Norwich places fourth at Bowdoin 7s Tournament

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Norwich University women's rugby team went 1-4 and finished in fourth place out of five teams at the Bowdoin 7s Tournament on Saturday afternoon.

Norwich (2-8-1) dropped its first three matches of the day, but then won its final match of the day with a 26-5 win over Sacred Heart to close out the tournament.

Ida Mweze and Brooke Stafford each scored twom tries to lead the Norwich offense on the day. Amber Kelly and Angelica Greene each scored a try as well.

The Cadets opened the day with a 29-0 loss to Brown University. They then had a hard-fought 21-15 loss to AIC in the second game with Stafford, Kelly and Emma Parizo each touching down for tries.

Norwich lost 21-0 to Northeastern, before ending the day with the 26-5 win over Sacred Heart. Mweze scored both of her tries in the fourth match with Greene and Stafford also scoring. Fuatino Simi and Amanda Lodi (two) accounted for the conversions in the match.

Norwich will close out the spring season at the Chris Munn 7s Tournament next Saturday.
