Women's Rugby: Parizo's four tries power Norwich past Colby-Sawyer, 41-7

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - Junior Emma Parizo (Grand Isle, Vt.) scored a career-high four tries to help the Norwich University women's rugby team hand Colby-Sawyer its first loss of the season in a 41-7 victory on Saturday in each team's National Intercollegiate Rugby Association (NIRA) regular season finale.

Norwich (6-2, 2-2 NIRA Division III) raced out to 26-0 lead by halftime with two tries from Parizo. Sophomore Molly Higgins (Thetford Center, Vt.) and Reagan Aldersea (Schertz, Texas) each scored first half tries as well for the Cadets.

Parizo also converted three tries in the first half to account for 21 points. 

Norwich opened the second half with a try from Brooke Stafford (Gibbsboro, N.J.) to extend the lead to 31-0. Parizo touched down for two more tries to make it 41-0 before Colby-Sawyer broke up the shutout with a try in the 75th minute by Maria Radillo-Hernandez. 

Parizo accounted for 26 points in the game to help the Cadets avenge an early season loss to Colby-Sawyer in New London.

Norwich will now face Bowdoin in the NIRA Division III semifinals next weekend at a site to be determined based on Bowdoin's result with Univ. of New England.
