BRUNSWICK, Maine – The Norwich University women's rugby team traveled to take on Bowdoin University in National Intercollegiate Rugby Association Division III action on Saturday.
The Polar Bears bested the Cadets 27-17, rallying for three second half tries after the match was knotted 10-10 at the half.
Trailing 5-0, the Cadets got an unconverted try from sophomore Kennedy Mack (Staten Island, N.Y.). The Polar Bears retook the lead at 10-5 before junior Molly Higgins (Thetford Center, Vt.) punched in a try to tie the match 10-10.
Bowdoin started the scoring in the second half, taking a 15-10 lead before NU got a try from junior Emma Parizo (Grand Isle, Vt.) that was converted by junior Amanda Lodi (Acton, Mass.) for a 17-15 Cadet lead.
Norwich's only lead of the day was shortlived as Bowdoin scored back-to-back tries for the 27-17 final.
The Cadets now stand at 3-2 overall and 2-2 in NIRA play on the season. NU will be next in action on Saturday, October 12th, hosting New England College in NIRA Tier III action at noon at the Dog River Rugby Pitch.
