WINTHROP, Mass. – The Norwich University women's soccer team continued its impressive dominance of the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) weekly awards on Monday afternoon.
Sophomores Sydney Rocheville (Salem, Mass.) and Katie Bishop-Manning (New York, N.Y.) were named the GNAC Player and Goalie of the week respectively after helping lead the Cadets to their best start in program history.
Rocheville scored two goals and notched three assists for seven points in a historic week to lead Norwich to two more victories and improve to 4-0-0 on the season.
Rocheville tied for the second-most assists in a single game with three helpers in a 4-1 win over NVU-Johnson. Her three assists were the most by a NU women's soccer play in a game since Anna-Lese Sukkestad had three in a game in 2012.
Rocheville then added two more goals, including the game-winning goal to break a 1-1 tie in the second half and lead the Cadets to a 3-1 win over Albertus Magnus on Saturday. The win vs. Albertus was Norwich's first since 2011.
Bishop-Manning had an equally impressive week, making 19 saves on 21 opportunities to help backstop the Cadets to two more victories and stay perfect on the season.
Bishop-Manning made eight saves vs. NVU-Johnson and then 11 vs. Albertus Magnus to end the Cadets' six-game losing streak to the Falcons.
Rocheville ranks tied for second on the team in points with eight and tied for third in the entire GNAC.
Bishop-Manning has a 4-0-0 record, .917 save percentage (2nd in GNAC) and 22 saves (3rd in GNAC).
Norwich has now had four of the six weekly award winners so far this season for women's soccer.
The Cadets are in action tonight at 7 p.m. at Rivier University in another GNAC matchup.
