NORTHFIELD, Vt. – Junior defender Mary-Kait Mace (Canton, N.Y.) of the Norwich University women's soccer team earned Google Cloud Academic All-District, as selected by CoSIDA honors on Thursday afternoon.
Mace is the first member of the women's soccer team to earn CoSIDA Academic All-District I honors since 2012 when Courtney Parisot was selected to the team two years in a row.
Mace carries a 4.0 GPA and is a University and Presidential Scholar. The athletic training major had the highest GPA in her class as a freshman and sophomore, while also being a two-sport NCAA varsity athlete on the women's soccer and lacrosse teams.
She served as a women's soccer captain this season and also serves as the women's club hockey team captain. She is an athletic community service liaison, as well as a civilian academic mentor.
Mace is a four-time Dean's List honoree and was named to the GNAC All-Academic team last year.
This year on the soccer field, Mace played in 15 games, while starting 14 of them and was one of the driving forces behind the team's program-record six-game winning streak to start the 2018 season. She notched two assists in a 9-1 victory over Anna Maria to record her first collegiate points. In two seasons on the women's soccer team, Mace has played in 30 games and started 27.
Mace was one of four GNAC women's soccer players to be selected to the District I team, which encompasses the states of Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Maine.
Mace will now be entered into the pool of candidates to earn Google Cloud Academic All-American honors, as selected by CoSIDA. Those teams will be announced in early December.
