STANDISH, Maine - For the second year in a row Saint Joseph's (Maine) rallied from behind to down the Norwich University women's soccer team with a 2-1 victory.
Madison Michaud scored with 6:29 remaining in the second overtime to stun the Cadets again for the second straight year and rob NU of gaining some crucial points in the league standings.
Sophomore forward Karyssa Lachance (Gorham, N.H.) scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season with an unassisted tally in the 20th minute to put the Cadets out front. NU held the lead for nearly 60 minutes of game action until the Monks' Ashley Emery scored to knot the match up at 1-1 in the 80th minute.
Sophomore goalkeeper Lindsey Gordon (Wiscasset, Maine) made her first collegiate start and shined with a brilliant effort, making 12 saves for the Cadets to help stymie the Monks' offense. Saint Joseph's (Maine) outshot Norwich 26-7 for the game.
Norwich dropped to 3-8-1 with the loss and is now 2-4-1 in league play.
The Cadets will have a quick turnaround as they'll host Simmons University at 5 p.m. on Friday to kickoff NU Parent and Family Weekend.
