NORFOLK, Va. - The Norwich University men's and women's swimming & diving teams earned College Swimming & Diving Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America team honors for the spring semester announced by the organization Tuesday afternoon.
The NU women's team posted a team GPA of 3.25 while the men's squad registered a 3.04 GPA in the spring.
"We strive for excellence both in the pool and out of the pool. Just a reminder we are student athletes and this recognition is just another example." Head Coach Jay Schotter said "I'm proud of these student athletes for focusing on academics after the season ended. "
This marks the fourth consecutive team honor for the Norwich women's team and the third consecutive for the men's side. It is also the ninth time in Norwich women's swimming and diving team history that the team has been honored (1990-91, 91-92, 92-93, 94-95, 97-98, fall 16-17, spring 16-17 and fall 17-18) and the fourth time in men's team history (fall 1994-95, spring 2016-17 and fall 2017-18).
For a team to be considered, it must have a minimum 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution. The team grade point average includes all eligible varsity student-athletes. 710 teams were honored for their spring prowess this year.
