BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – The Norwich University men's and women's swimming and diving teams competed at the Bridgewater State Invitational on Saturday.
The Cadet men were victorious, posting a team score of 732 points, while the NU women placed second with 367 points.
The team of freshman Olivia Kelliher (Weymouth, Mass.), freshman Megan Duffy (Shelton, Conn.), junior Domonique Ector (Buffalo, N.Y.) and senior Kylee Russell (Swanzey, N.H.) placed second in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 2:00.46. Their counterparts on the men's side also took second as sophomore Joseph Clark (Acworth, Ga.), senior Dylan Henderson (Commerce Township, Mich.), junior Alex DiGiacomo (Norfolk, Mass.) and freshman Sebass Lasher (Lockport, N.Y.) finished in 1:46.76.
Kelliher went on to win the 50 yard backstroke event in 30.38 with sophomore Cameron Ferriera (Cocoa Beach, Fla.) winning the 200 yard IM in 2:07.93
DiGiacomo also won the 50 yard freestyle in 22.85, the 100 yard freestyle in 50.05, the 100 yard butterfly in 56.48 and took second in the 50 yard butterfly in 25.22 with Duffy taking first in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:12.91. Duffy also won the 200 yard butterfly in 2:22.49, the 50 yard breaststroke in 35.10 and the 100 yard IM in 1:04.80.
Senior Matt Clark (Acworth, Ga.) claimed first in the 200 yard freestyle, posting a time of 1:54.42 while sophomore Elaine Dudley (North Waterboro, Maine) took the victory in the 100 yard backstroke in 1:04.80. Dudley also won the 100 yard freestyle in 56.93.
Junior Claudia Kearn (Columbia, S.C.) won the 1-meter diving contest with a score of 151.85 and sophomore Conor Mahnke (Livonia, N.Y.) was victorious on the men's side with a final score of 184.05.
The Cadets are next in action on Saturday, December 8th when they host Bentley University in a home dual meet. That contest is set for 1:00 p.m.
