HENNIKER, N.H. - The Norwich volleyball team hit the road on Saturday, traveling to New England College to take on the hosting Pilgrims and the Mariners of Mitchell College in tri-match action.
Game one pitted the Cadets against Mitchell, as Norwich took the sets 25-8, 25-25, and 25-12 to sweep the Mariners and pick up the 3-0 win. Norwich controlled the game end to end and minimized mistakes with a .341 attacking percentage while holding Mitchell to a -.082 percentage. Kathryn Farnum (North Andover, Mass.) led the Cadets with 9 kills on a .368 percentage, while Emily Oliver (Sagamore Hills, Ohio) picked up a team-high five service aces and 28 assists.
The Cadets squared off with the hosting Pilgrims in game two, handling NEC in three sets by scores of 26-24, 26-24, and 25-22 to earn the 3-0 sweep.
It was Kathryn Farnum leading the way once again, as she racked up a game-high 14 kills while also collecting nine digs and a service ace. Brianna Dawson (Katonah, N.Y.) anchored the defense with 17 digs, while Marissa Perotti (Moultonborough, N.H.) put up eight kills and three service aces.
With the two wins, Norwich brings their season record up to 4-6 on the season. They'll be back in action on Wednesday afternoon against the Monks of Saint Joseph's College of Maine at 4:00 PM in a GNAC battle in Andrews Hall.
