NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The Norwich University volleyball team defeated Southern Vermont College on Tuesday evening, in a game resumed after being suspended in the second set at Southern Vermont College earlier in the season.
After unsafe playing conditions at SVC, the match was held up until it could be resumed with the decision being to host the game at Norwich. The game resumed with Southern Vermont holding a 1-0 lead with Norwich leading the second set late.
Norwich took care of business in the second set, taking the 25-19 win to tie things up at 1-1. Norwich continued to roll with a 25-20 win in set three before SVU staved off elimination with a 25-17 win in the fourth set. The Cadets proceeded to run away with the decisive fifth set, putting away SVC with a 15-7 win.
Sophomore Kathryn Farnum (North Andover, Mass.) led the Cadets once again with a team-high 15 kills along with 17 digs. Michele Zummo (Highland Mills, N.Y.) put up a similar stat line with 12 kills and 23 digs, while Emily Oliver (Sagamore Hills, Ohio) put up an impressive 45 assists.
