CASTLETON, Vt. - The Norwich University volleyball team took down in-state rival Castleton University on Thursday evening, dispatching the Spartans in a three-set sweep.
Norwich put forth an efficient effort in all three sets, starting with a 25-8 opening set win where the team hit .526 and only made three attack errors. It was much the same in the second and third set, as the Cadets sealed up the victory with wins of 25-11 and 25-10.
Kathryn Farnum (North Andover, Mass.) led the way with ten kills on a stellar .625 attacking percentage, along with a team-high eight digs. Marissa Perrotti (Moultonborough, N.H.) had three kills and a game-high five service aces for 8.5 points on the night, while Emily Oliver (Sagamore Hills, Ohio) put up 22 assists.
The win bumps Norwich up to 10-13 overall on the season, as they've won four of their last six matches. They'll travel to Colby-Sawyer on Saturday to wrap up their season with a GNAC tri-match between the hosting Chargers and the Amcats of Anna Maria.
