CANTON, N.Y. – The Norwich University men's and women's cross country teams competed in the 27th Annual Ronald C. Hoffmann Invitational, hosted by St. Lawrence University on Saturday.
The Cadet men finished in second place with 47 points while the Norwich women placed fourth with 118 points.
Junior Adam Saucier (Massena, N.Y.) led all Cadet runners for the second consecutive week as he finished in seventh place in 26:21.19 on the 8k course. Senior Brody Hale (Naugatuck, Conn.) finished just behind in eighth place 26:48.2 with fellow senior Korey Leonard (Pembroke, Mass.) placing ninth in 26:53.17.
Junior Jack McNally (Nokesville, Va.) capped Norwich men in the top 20 with a 16th-place finish in 27:16.04 and freshman Zachary Bergeron (Blackstone, Mass.) finished in 24th in 28:03.59.
On the women's side senior Carisa DeKalb (San Diego, Calif.) led the team with a 17th place finish with a time of 24:46.88 on the 6k course. Sophomore Olivia Giarrizzo (Tampa, Fla.) placed 32nd in 26:26.73 while freshman Belle Magna (Canton, Conn.) finished just behind in 40th in 27:26.19. Junior Madison Eline (Southampton, Mass.) came in 46th place with a time of 28:17.23 and fellow junior Sarah Ingraham (Shoreview, Minn.) capped Norwich runners in the top 50 with a 48th place finish in 28:48.33.
The Cadets are next in action on Saturday, September 29th at the Vermont State Meet, hosted by Northern Vermont University-Lyndon. The men's race is slated for 12:30 p.m. with the women's contest scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
